DANA MILBANK Opinion writer
Representatives of prominent conservative groups converged on the Heritage Foundation on Monday afternoon for the umpteenth in a series of gatherings to draw attention to the Benghazi controversy.
But this one took an unexpected turn.
What began as a session purportedly about unanswered questions surrounding the September 2012 attacks on U.S. facilities in Libya deteriorated into the ugly taunting of a woman in the room who wore an Islamic head covering.
The session, as usual, quickly moved beyond the specifics of the assaults that left four Americans dead to accusations about the Muslim Brotherhood infiltrating the Obama administration, President Obama funding jihadists in their quest to destroy the United States, Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton attempting to impose Sharia blasphemy laws on Americans and Al Jazeera America being an organ of enemy propaganda.
Then Saba Ahmed, an American University law student, stood in the back of the room and asked a question in a soft voice. We portray Islam and all Muslims as bad, but theres 1.8 billion followers of Islam, she told them. We have 8 million-plus Muslim Americans in this country and I dont see them represented here.

WATCH: Muslim Student Gets Mocked At Heritage Benghazi Panel

Media Matters has posted video of an ugly exchange that took place Monday at a Heritage Foundation panel when a Muslim law student took the microphone to ask a question.
The exchange was described in a column published Monday by The Washington Post's Dana Milbank. In the video, Saba Ahmed, a law student at American University, can be heard saying she had a "simple question."
"There is 1.8 billion Muslim followers," Ahmed said. "We have 8 million plus Muslim Americans, in this country. And I don't see them represented here. But my question is: How can we fight an ideological war with weapons? How can we ever end this war? The jihadist ideology that you talk about, it's an ideology. How can you ever win this thing if you don't address it ideologically?"
The panelists offered a range of responses. The Sharia law fearmonger Frank Gaffney thanked Ahmed for her question, and said that he didn't think anyone on the panel "thinks that all Muslims are the problem" -- before going on to say that Muslims who are not followers "the program" of Sharia "are not necessarily the problem, at least not yet." Brigitte Gabriel, the president of ACT! for America, said that up to 300 million Muslims are dedicated to the destruction of Western civilization, and went through a list of historical atrocities where "the peaceful majority were irrelevant."

It's nice to know that they are rightly categorized as a conservative think tank because these scumbags really represent the true nature of the current Republican party.

A former health food store closed up and was abandoned for years.
A local mosque bought the building.
Led by that Gabriel woman, the local religious bigots had snitfits.
At one of the hearings, a woman waved around a sign that said "No Jesus, Know Terrorism."
Don't forget also, who runs this "Heritage Foundation."

Very interesting the way she was treated there - but not surprising.

(23,946 posts)Does America not have a right to know what the cons really think?
Seems almost like the media is protecting the public from knowing all the vicious hate the cons have, because they need to keep the race close, there are only two horses running in the Electoral Sweepstakes.
What if one comes up game, what will happen to all that campaign ad booty if there is no race?
