Why does the IRS no longer answer qeustions about personal income tax?

I work on our taxes year around, planning, changing trying to end up more or less even. No surprises. And it appears that after April 15 they no longer take questions. They send me to their web site, except that their "interaction" sends me to general publications. I know these publications; I've read them. I need specific answers. In previous years I've had really helpful agents who spent long time with me - because it was off season!.

So why not now? My Congressman's office cannot offer any explanation. Surprise! She did say, however, that we are no longer in sequestering. I did not know that.

Perhaps I need to select a different "digit." This is what I do with the cable system. I select an option that I am ready to add services and I get a live person immediately. And then I can ask.

end rant..
