"Boots on the ground"

I am so tired of hearing this expression. Maybe it's because my late dad had a 20-year Army career and a 40% service connected disability, but it always sounds dehumanizing. I hope I would feel the same way even if it were not so close to me. To all of the pundits out there who bandy this term around, please remember that this involved more than a pair of boots. Those boots are worn by human beings with hopes and dreams and families. You can throw away an old pair of boots when they're damaged or worn out or served their purpose, and it seems that there are many who take the same attitude toward our troops.

nameless, faceless fodder for TPTB.

That is why they are referred to that way. That is until they survive and we're supposed to grovel and thank them for being pawns and "honor" them at basketball games and NASCAR races.

I'd give that a 3.5 out of 10. I'm sure you can do better than that.

Try adding, "sucking on the .gov teat, stomping on a baby". Or creative combos that could help raise that score.

It's early in week so there is plenty of time before the contest ends.

Do you intend to respond?

What does "sucking on the .gov teat, stomping on a baby" have to do with my comment?

Do you disagree that TPTB care NOTHING about the cannon fodder that is "boots on the ground", that those humans in those boots are merely a wind-break between the "enemy" and the those within their gated mansions?

Boots in the Army (and other branches) have a special significance for many different reasons. That is why an inverted rifle, a kpot and a pair of boots is often used in the last roll call.

Not many pundits or politician's understand that, nor do they care. It just sounds knowledgeable or tough.
