Would you boycott Walgreen's if they move their HQ offshore,

to avoid paying U.S. taxes?

Walgreen, the biggest U.S. retail drugstore chain, is considering decamping to Switzerland in a quest for bigger tax breaks, just two years after reaping a hefty package of Illinois tax credits in exchange for keeping corporate jobs in the state.

ask people you run into which they prefer. They almost always have a preference one over the other, but can't pinpoint the reason...except sometimes proximity to their home.

I first saw CVS stores in Connecticut on a visit. Somehow and not because of the name, I got it in my head that CVS was a Canadian company- so the tag was a mistake.

We have a lot of Walgrens in our town. They build one everywhere there is a CVS - we tend to go to CVS. But all our regular prescriptions have to be mail order.

In my state, that tomfoolery was confined to rural areas and stopped by the governor. Sorry to be so late in replying, just found this today.

stop selling tobacco products. The prices and service are about the same. Why shouldn't I support the business with the best ethical practices?

They are otherwise horrible. My wife is constantly battling with CVS. Her patients are always having problems getting scrips filled, she's constantly battling with them. If they fill it, they get it wrong. I guess it is the lesser of two evils. Walgreens and CVS both suck balls. You have to decide how much suckage you can tolerate.

within a short drive, there are other ones that are closer. I don't have much use for that sort of shop, anyway.

I used to buy French Champagne at one in the Caribbean many years ago....I don't drink that stuff in my old age!

If they do decide to do this, though, I will make it a point to point out their perfidy to everyone with whom I speak.

Their pharmacy doesn't accept military veterans' Tricare government insurance to pay for drugs.

I already get some medication through Express Scripts (i.e. Tricare) through the mail because they no longer have contracts for certain medications. But there are a lot of problems. For example, they often get dosages or quantity wrong and I have to go back to the doctor to get them to contact Express Scripts. Anyway, almost every other pharmacy accepts Tricare, except for Walgreen's.

Probably over some insurance snafu that wasn't entirely their fault.

Still, I'd rather have a pharmacist I know will at least pretend to fight for me, maybe even call an insurance company 800 number and not just shrug their shoulders and say, "Sorry. The computer says that will be $381, please."

We were required to get our regular maintanence medicines from them for years, and it was a hassle EVERY TIME. Either they got the dosages wrong, poor quality generic drugs, billing issues...etc..etc....Every month there was an issue....no exaggeration...I was going to start billing them for my time fixing their issues......would Never use them again. Walgreens freaks out about pain meds, makes people feel like criminals....and have never liked CVS. As much as I hate Wal-Mart, I found one a fair distance away from my home, but is worth the drive for their promptness and great customer service....and no BS over my husband's pain meds for his cancer....suprisingly enough....
