Countries operating F-16 Aircraft

2.1 Belgium
2.2 Denmark
2.3 Netherlands
2.4 Norway
3.1 Greece
3.2 Italy
3.3 Poland
3.4 Portugal
4.1 Bahrain
4.2 Egypt
4.3 Israel
4.4 Iraq
4.5 Jordan
4.6 Oman
4.7 Turkey
4.8 United Arab Emirates

And the US "must" provide air support to Iraq because "we" broke it? As the Bushies would say-"Don't forget Poland.".

ISIS has no aircraft and limited aircraft defense. A squadron of WW2 fighters could put a bad loss on their ground troops. I see plenty of supposed allies on this list and almost any air force in the world could handle this with existing inventories. We took our losses already-let us stay home!

1. Air support is pretty much worthless without intel and boots on the ground to tell who to bomb

especially a small group like ISIS. Bombing countries is a different matter though....

13. Iran and Syria?

Syria is in the process of exterminating 1/2 it's country, and Iran is brutally suppressing any opposition in their own country.

I agree that we're not the best actor to insert ourselves here, but Iran and Syria are the last people we want in control of Iraq.

3. The only reason we are providing anything is because Obama has made the call.

We have no business being there now. We have no more business now than we did in 2003. When the the last US soldier left, our role reset. It is a new slate and Obama is leading us in for the same bullshit reasons bush used.

6. I remember, I don't trust Obama. Why would I, he is the President.

It would be foolish to ever trust a President.

Libya was a mistake and the opposition of the people blocked his effort in Syria. He is now claiming he doesn't need Congress to carry out acts of war in Iraq.

I was just looking for a list of countries with anything close to a current generation fighter. There are of course dozens of other aircraft produced elsewhere that would also be perfectly adequate...

Be honest.

"Look... we blundered into the war in Iraq and it destabilized the whole region. Nobody should doubt that we have the strongest military in the world, but it is not suited for nation building or resolution of civil wars.

We broke it.... but we're the absolutely LAST country with the ability to fix it. Our reputation in the Middle East.. the sectarian nature of the whole conflict.. our lack of even language skills... precludes our ability to help resolve this thing.

We are going to - diplomatic term here - butt the fuck out of Iraq."
