The infinitely valuable Yiddish word chutzpah is defined as shameless audacity or impudence.
Its singularly appropriate for the astonishing op-ed from former vice president Dick Cheney and his daughter Liz that was published in the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday. Its not every day that a leader of the previous administration suggests that the current president is a fool and accuses him of intentionally weakening the United States.
President Obama seems determined to leave office ensuring he has taken America down a notch, the Cheneys write. Are they charging our president with treason? President Obama, they write, is on track to securing his legacy as the man who betrayed our past and squandered our freedom.
Squandered our freedom?
Only a fool, they say, would believe American policy in Iraq should be ceded to Iran, the worlds largest state sponsor of terror. As if this is what Obama is doing and as if it werent the invasion Cheney so passionately supported that vastly strengthened Irans hand long before Obama took office.

(802 posts)...question. If you drive a stake into a transplanted heart does the 'carrier' die for keeps or just the heart of some well-meaning soul that thought they were doing a good deed if they volunteered to be an organ donor? Regardless, this SOB needs to be 'put away'...for keeps. And while I'm on the subject, can the family of said heart donor demand a recall of their son/father/brother's heart? I'll volunteer to do the harvesting with a rusty spoon. Hell, I'll even go huntin' with the prick...if I get the first shot.

(9,426 posts)Is Lizzie his bodyguard now? Her qualifications for giving political advice are what? Snarling, snapping, comments mean nothing. Lizzie must really miss having a "do little" job in her father's administration, since she does not seem to have been gainfully employed since then. Occasional appearanceson the gop Sunday propoganda showshardly qualify her to give criticism of a sitting President. Frumpy, ill tempered Lizzie looks like a frazzled housewife.

The family name is (or should be) toxic! Left, right or center; not to be brought up on polite conversation.

(322 posts)by taking away someone else's. Occupying and destroying Iraq, supporting coups in Latin America, destroying Vietnam to secure U.S. economic interests, firebombing dozens of cities in Japan in WWII, if NOT doing these types of things anymore is "squandering freedom," he's absolutely right! But let's be clear what his idea of freedom is - the exploitation, enslavement and destruction of others.

(10,097 posts)It was a simply devastating assault on Cheney and his daughter. I am trying to find the transcript, it was amazing.
At the end he goes on to the idiot son and ends with "simply spends his time in Texas, trying to paint his soul clean".
A snippet from the transcript of the show
"You see the spectacle of Dick Cheney weighing in on Iraq and on one level
it feels like a just society would have done something formal to sanction
this person for what he did and place him outside the bounds of polite
society. But in the absence of that, at least we can take comfort in the
fact that this man is speaking from a lowed mountainside in a funny hat
rather than from the Oval Office at the president`s side.
This is a man whose family name has been so tarnished, so discredited, he
couldn`t get his own daughter through a primary campaign in his own party
in his own home state. He had to go back to the drawing board to find her
another job, which he`s apparently achieved by starting this new
organization.
And, of course, no accounting for this psycho drama, this spectacle of the
lead`s reckoning with the horror of what they did would be complete without
this man, who, to his credit recently, has seen fitting to offer no more
wisdom, dispense no more advice, and simply spend his days in Texas trying
to paint his soul clean."
