The Pentagon has proposed sending 100 military advisors (Special Ops--Army Special Forces and Rangers and Navy SEALs). According to CNN's Barbara Starr, these troops would be stationed at the HQ of various Iraqi Army brigades around the country.

This proposal reportedly went to the President's desk and is awaiting his decision.
