Florida doomsday prepper plans bloody last stand until cops lure him in with burgers

The two-day manhunt for a Florida man ended Wednesday morning at the FBI office in Tampa, when 55-year-old “doomsday prepper” Martin Winters surrendered to authorities. According to the Tampa Bay Times, a wet, footsore and weary Winters gave up his freedom for the promise of some dry shoes, Gatorade, a couple of cheeseburgers and some French fries.

Winters is the head of a group known as the River Otter Preppers, survivalists who believe in hoarding weapons and supplies ahead of an apocalyptic event foretold in the Christian Bible’s final book, the Book of Revelations. An undercover FBI agent infiltrated the group and spent months building a case against Winters, who the agent said was planning a bloody, heavily-armed “last stand” against law enforcement officials.

they are waiting for is having McDs or BurgerKing run out of hamburgers and fries.

I've been following this story in the Tampa Bay Times and wonder if the FBI found his weapon caches yet?

So which was it, was he stocking up for Armageddon or a last stand against law enforcement? And if it was for a last stand against law enforcement why would they even be invading his property? Sounds to me the FBI is working way to hard to justify it's existence if this is what they are protecting America from.

The guy was fabricating and selling homemade bombs, reason enough for the FBI to "invade" his property.

If the guy living next door to you was constructing IED's in his basement and LEO were made aware of it, wouldn't you like them to make the guy stop before he levels the neighborhood?

I saw an episode of Doomsday Preppers about this guy who had a compound somewhere out in California that was stocked to last for years, so he said. He invites a another prepper and the prepper's family out to the compound to do some training. Everything is going well until the guest prepper shot a gun near the guy, who of course wasn't wearing ear protection.

Well you would've thought the guy had actually been shot. He was rolling around on the ground, crying and cussing up a storm at the guest. His whole day was ruined.

All I'm thinking is, despite all his preparation, all his "training," he's toast once it gets real. If he can't handle a comrade shooting next to him, how the hell is he going to handle people shooting AT him.
