Two rival male TV helicopter pilots who covered O.J. Simpson chase now are transgender women

The two male TV helicopter pilots were once fierce rivals, fighting over airspace during landmark Southern California moments like the O.J. Simpson slow-speed chase in 1994.

Twenty years later, they’ve become friends — and female.

Dirk Vahle, once an NBC newser, is now Dana Vahle, while Bob Tur, an award-winning former CBS pilot, goes by Zoey Tur after beginning hormone therapy last year.

Vahle started her change two years before Tur, who publicly announced in June 2013 that she had gender identity disorder (GID) and had already begun therapy.
