A company called 'eCycle, inc' had a working prototype electric motorcycle back in 1996, although they wound up moving towards a diesel/electric hybrid later on. I just don't think they could get the funding together to go into production, since gas was cheaper back then, and no one cared.

The DU3 software gets confused when it tries to create a link and embed a video from one URL. Adding the [font style="background-color:#e6e6e6;"]t=0&[/font] will prevent the video from being embedded.

Now I've only got a fifth of an acre lot, but if I haven't let the grass get too high, I can mow both my and my neighbour's yards (same size lot) on a single charge. If I have let the grass get into jungle territory, it usually takes two charge-ups to do the two yards. I prefer it because I'm not getting any fumes while mowing, or leaving any sort of oil or combustion residue on the lawn.

On the downside, I don't know that I'm actually creating any less pollution, because I'm in a part of the country where most of the electricity is generated by burning coal

At least as far as the brand. I don't know what the model might be called. I used to have a 'reel' mower, (no motor at all) but I passed it along to someone else during a move when I was apartment bound for a number of years, and then when I got a house I just didn't have as much energy, and felt I was better off pushing something that wouldn't at least require me to put in the energy to turn the blades.

I'm almost afraid to ask "how much?"

Although those of us who are not motorcycle people don't always appreciate the noise. There's no reason an electric motorcycle has to sound like 'a jet engine on an aircraft carrier', other than simply to make people who like to be noisy happy. Irritates the heck out of me when people with deliberately noisy mufflers go roaring down the street pas my house.

And I suspect its because they are desperate to shed the image that they can't implement technology unless it is more than 10 years old.

Harley Davidson is basically the epitome of what it means to not be technologically current. Many of their motorcycles have not had major design overhauls in two or three decades, if ever. Yet they command an obscenely high price from the dealership and private sellers. Mostly because what you buy with a Harley Davidson is image. And image couldn't a shit about electric power

Harley Davidson is cool if what you're looking for is a piece of the past. And, to a certain extent, I respect the resistance to new trends. But I would never for a second consider Harley Davidson technologically competitive.

Buell was supposed to be the Harley backed resurrection of American motorcycle technology. And what happened to Buell? It went out of business. There's a reason why I've never owned an American motorcycle.

They exist, sometimes with huge stereo systems on cars or bikes and even boats, and it's almost like marking one's territory.

Why they think it's "OK" I'll never understand.
