Chuck Todd and Ed Henry Caught Mocking McCain on Hot Mic

Oh, the things we hear when they forget to turn their mics down. Here we have Chuck Todd and Ed Henry yukking it up together over their imagined McCain palpitations over Petraeus' comments on air strikes in Iraq.

Via Mediaite:

Before Obama entered the briefing room to make his statement on Iraq, Todd leaned over to Henry to ask him what McCain, who supports air strikes in Iraq, must think now that General David Petraeus has come out against further military action. In video captured by The Right Pundit, Todd asked if anyone had “checked on” McCain since Petraeus made his statements. “I’ve got to think McCain must have had heart palpitations,” Todd joked.

“What’s funny is that McCain was on our air an hour ago saying we should send Petraeus to Iraq,” Henry remarked, referring to an earlier appearance the senator did on Fox. But meanwhile, Petraeus gave a speech a day earlier saying the U.S. “can’t be the air force for Iraq.”

Something tells me Senator McGrumpy will not be amused.

It really does give a closer look at how these guys pal around with each other. Is it any wonder we get groupthink from the Village when they all stand around laughing at what they will soon be reporting on in Very Serious Voices?

1. Also shows how hypocritical Todd and the other hacks are.

They don't even believe the crap they feed us, but they're happy enough to make money feeding the rest of us BS in a way that tries to make it seem reasonable. 'Fair and balanced' doesn't serve America, it serves 'news' companies that thrive on a government split as closely as possible right down the middle, for the most fighting, the most crises unable to be solved.

as a veteran of the biz (local media) they're just doing what journalists always do. It goes with the territory.

Lot of cynical dissing of the people who are being covered in private, while publicly having to stifle those opinions as reporters. It's a fairly human response to the dichotomy of being a human being and a reporter.

6. If they were real journalists they wouldn't be doing this off the air, they would invite McCain

The program VICE is the most serious journalism on TV that I know. Of course, they are not covering the same things! But give it a try. It is on HBO and usually follows or is sandwiched between Bill Maher programs on Friday nights in my area. They just did an excellent one on the ice melting in Greenland.
