Rick Santorum: Gay Marriage Hurts The Economy

DYLAN SCOTT – JUNE 20, 2014, 10:38 AM EDT

In an interview Thursday, former GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum floated an argument against gay marriage that's becoming more common from those who oppose it: It is bad for the economy.

Santorum made the remarks in an interview with the conservative news outlet TownHall, while he attended the March for Marriage in Washington, D.C.

"When we continue to see a decline in marriage and a redefinition of marriage, you get less marriage," he said. "You get families that aren't as strong, and as a result, society generally, the economy suffers."

Marriage, Santorum said, is not just about "a romantic relationship between two people."

Is he talking about less taxes since two people won't file single and will file joint? Sometimes these guys do more damage to themselves. It is stunning how some of these folks want to be President but are so unwilling to represent the entire country......it is very weird.

Santorum is married with 7 children. How on Earth does gay marriage affect him? I just don't get it. Is he afraid one of his kids is going to be gay and want to get married? Doubt he thinks about that but is still willing to hurt other people.

Nothing he says about Gay people or anything is ever sensible or comprehensible.

When hate is behind every thought you have, every move you make, every step you take, the results are always bad.

He needs to stay at home and away from mikes and cameras, this would not reveal any more of his "ideas" which is never correct.

Weddings and the accompaniments are a big part of the economy. Gay people pay the same way straight people do.

Just like when they let women vote, men stopped voting because it degraded the worth of voting.

and business is booming. The stores are being shopped, restaurant lines are everywhere, lots of no vacancy signs in our hotels, b&bs and and motels and inns. Activity everywhere and the mood is festive.

's ability to consistently prove he is one of the dumbest motherfuckers out there. That's hard work given the level of competition in the Rethug party.
