Catholic group calls on the faithful to vote.

They don't break the letter of the law as far as I can tell. They never come right out and say vote for this person, or vote against that party. But they're pretty obvious about who they think you should support.

I keep warning and pointing to evidence that this election is going to be a tough one, and people keep ignoring me. Perhaps as we get closer to November, and the approved news sites, and I'm not sure which ones they are, start running stories about the dangers of this election, we'll see some interest in the Democratic Party Base. So far, it looks like the RW is fired up, and we're overconfident, to say the least.

This video doesn't use any of the proscribed words, but it is a clear message to the Catholic Faithful.

1. The reality is that there is no Catholic voting bloc.

Catholics voted for Obama over Romney in 2012, and while more conservative Catholics are probably swayed by politicians who claim to be "pro life," many are more interested in issues of economic justice. Whoever put the video together doesn't understand the diversity and independent mindedness of Catholics.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Catholics Called to Witness are two husband-and-wife teams of devoted Catholic faithful from Florida that have come together to promote the three non-negotiable principles as expressed by Pope Benedict XVI. Those principles are:

-Protection of life in all its stages, from the first moment of conception until natural death.

-Recognition and promotion of the natural structure of the family - as a union between one man and one woman based on marriage - and its defense from attempts to make it juridical equivalent to radically different forms of union which in reality harm it and contribute to its destabilization, obscuring its particular character and its irreplaceable social role.

-The protection of the right of parents to educate their children

about social justice.

So Catholics voting isn't necessarily a bad thing.

homeschooling. The video quotes Cardinal Dolan, a known liar,hypocrite and vicious anti gay hate speaker.

Keep telling yourself that the world's leading anti choice activist is all about 'social justice' and just happens to oppose contraception, LGBT equality, and all that stuff. It's all about justice. For some.

3. Where (and when) I grew up the "Catholic vote" was synonymous with the Democratic vote

My understanding is that it is 50/50% Dem/Repuke now in the USA. In the county I grew up in (home of the Reagan Democrats), the Catholic votes still lean heavily Democratic

"On the two issues that have prompted some pulpit thundering, same-sex marriage and abortion, Catholics are right in line, or even a little ahead, of their non-Catholic neighbors," Carroll said.

American Catholics support same-sex marriage 60 - 31 percent, compared to the 56 - 36 percent support among all U.S. adults.

Catholic opinion on abortion is similar of the opinions of all American adults:

16 percent of Catholics say abortion should be legal in all cases, compared to 19 percent of all Americans;
36 percent of Catholics say abortion should be legal in most cases, compared to 34 percent of all Americans;
21 percent of Catholics say abortion should be illegal in most cases, compared to 23 percent of all Americans;
21 percent of Catholics say abortion should be illegal in all cases, compared to 16 percent of all Americans.

that Faithful America, a interdenominational (but predominantly Catholic) organization for "people of faith" engages in the exact same kinds of GOTV activity?

FA is unapologetic about being committed to liberal social justice causes.

They're also much much much larger than CC2W. by about 300,000 members.
