Since his article about the Kagan nomination is the only article of his that I've ever read start to finish, I cannot speak to what he's never said, LOL. Do the people who make that claim also claim to have read everything Greenwald's written?

When I read the article, I focused on whether what Greenwald said about Kagan was true or false, well-reasoned or not, not whether he praised the President or not. (And, yes, I googled his claims about Kagan.)

Whether a writer praises the President or not seems to me to be a singularly poor standard to apply to any journalist or a wannabe journalist. The press are supposed to be critics of government. That is why the First Amendment protects them--and why protecting them was given such a place of honor in the bill of rights. (Did Peter Zenger ever praise George III? Not a rhetorical question. I really have no idea.)

P.S. There are probably many more poopyheads on the planet than traitors, though traitors are probably also poopyheads. However, as we have seen, the definition of traitor, much like the definition of poopyhead, can turn out to be more in the eye of the beholder than an objective standard.

I saw a Democracy Now! segment in which she spoke. And, yes, she is amazing.

However, my stand continues to be that the character of Greenwald or Snowden may be of great important to their loved ones, but is irrelevant to me.

Whether or not they are Libertarians, Democratic Socialists or loyal New Democrats, whether they are patriots or traitors, saints or sinners, does not alter that the government is using my tax money to violate my civil rights.

Wikipedia:
Kshama Sawant (/kəˈʃɑːmə səˈwɑːnt/)[2] is a Seattle City Council member.[3] A former software engineer from India, Sawant became a socialist activist and part-time economics professor in Seattle after emigrating to the United States. She held part-time teaching positions at Seattle Central Community College and Seattle University[4] and was a visiting assistant professor at Washington and Lee University.[5] Sawant ran unsuccessfully for the Washington State House of Representatives before winning a seat on the Seattle City Council, making her the first socialist to win a city-wide election in Seattle since the radical progressive Anna Louise Strong was elected to the School Board

Personal life and education

Sawant was born to Vasundhara and H. T. Ramanujam in Pune, India in a middle-class family.[6][8][9] Sawant's mother is a retired principal and her father, a civil engineer, was killed by a drunk driver when she was 13.[10] Sawant's observations of poverty in her native country and her unhappiness with the Indian caste system helped shape her political views before her adoption of socialism.[9][11] Sawant grew up in Mumbai where she later studied computer science and graduated with a B.Sc from the University of Mumbai in 1994. Sawant married her husband Vivek, an engineer at Microsoft, and moved to the United States.[12] Sawant was shocked by the level of poverty she saw and decided to abandon the computer engineering field.[13] She began to pursue studies in economics due to what she described as her own "questions of economic inequality."[14] She entered the economics program at North Carolina State University where she earned a PhD. Her dissertation was titled Elderly Labor Supply in a Rural, Less Developed Economy.[6][15] Sawant moved to Seattle in 2006 and, after hearing a speech by a Socialist Alternative organizer, became a socialist. She became a United States citizen in 2010.[16]

Kshama Sawant, Seattle City Councilor, to Speak at Socialism 2014

Capitalism has created a world in which just 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest half of humanity. While the rich get richer we are made to pay for a crisis of their system.

The bosses and their politicians heap austerity upon our heads. For them the lives of the vast majority are so much small change in their pursuit of ever greater profits.

This has not gone unchallenged. From Britain to Brazil, Seattle to South Africa, working-class people are fighting back to raise their living standards. If you want to hear from those at the sharp end of these struggles then Socialism 2014 is the place to be.

This weekend of discussion and debate will involve socialists, trade unionists and anti-cuts activists from Britain and across the world. This is your chance to discuss how to take the fightback forward and build the socialist alternative to cuts, crisis and capitalism.

One of the most anticipated speakers will be Seattle Socialist councillor, Kshama Sawant. Kshama is a member of Socialist Alternative, co-thinkers of the Socialist Party in the US. Her election with nearly 100,000 votes has sent shock waves across the world.

Writing in the British press Will Hutton said simply: “This does not happen in the US.” But things are changing.

Kshama’s election victory has fed into a successful movement for a $15 an hour minimum wage and inspired working people the world over. Workers here have taken this lead and ran with it, beginning to campaign for £10 an hour.

This is the first time Kshama has spoken in Britain since being elected so don’t miss your chance to see her.

The Reichert part. While it's depressing as hell living with these highly religious mountain monkeys, she made it all go away even if just for a few minutes when she got elected.

I would do everything I could to make her Senator.

However, most liberals appreciate those that are willing to speak truth to power while the conservative worship power. I find it strange that there are people here in DU, supposedly "politically liberal" that attack any and all that dare to speak truth to power. OWS, Code Pink, Michael Hastings, Anonymous, Wikileaks, whistle-blowers, protestors, etc. Liberals have an uphill fight to regain our freedoms and liberties, even here in DU.

the "Status Quo" uber alles Group. Authoritarians love their authoritarian leaders and abhor those that dare to speak truth to power, like Pfc Manning, OWS, Michael Hastings, Wikileaks, Code Pink, whistle-blowers, etc.

Kshama Sawant is relatively new on the political scene and clearly fights for the lower classes. I find your insinuations very odd for a liberal.
