Rand Paul: Republicans ‘unfairly tarred’ as trying to suppress minority voters

Rand Paul speaks to CNN

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on Sunday said that Republicans had been “unfairly tarred” as a party that was trying to make it more difficult for minorities to vote.

“Republicans have been unfairly tarred as, oh, trying to suppress votes,” Paul asserted. “Here’s a Republican who wants to enhance the vote. This is a much bigger problem than anything else limiting voting right now. Nearly a million people can’t vote, and I want to help people get the right to vote back.”

The Kentucky Republican explained that his advocacy of voting rights for felons was “opening the door” for him to talk to minority communities.

According to the Brennan Center, at least 92 bills restricting voting were proposed by largely Republican-controlled state legislatures during 2013. And that trend continued in 2014.

Bullshit. They've publicly admitted to suppression. It's obvious. (nt) Paladin Jun 2014 #4

'unfairly tarred,' Rand? I'm sure that you and your fellow Republicans only think it's unfair because people occasionally notice that your fellow Republicans are suppressing voters and voter registration and once in a while somebody dares to comment about it.

Rand Paul is right up there with the worst of the worst on the right, in my opinion. There is no nexus of consciousness at all with these people. No point at which thought, intent, and action meet with introspection or insight.

Someone forgot to include the feathers. Easily remedied and completely justified. OK Rand Paul, fairness prevails!

There's got to be some sort of way to determine which ones are most suited for the job.

the numbers needed to squash the Democrats so they do not want us to vote. They cry voter fraud and this group True the Vote is nothing but a sham who has researched voter registration rolls and if she finds two people with the same name she counts it as fraud. I have a very unusual name but guess what, there is another person in the US with the same name. When it comes to common names how many times do you think the name will reappear through out the nation. One of the voter frauds I have seen is a person in the same county Fort Bend, Texas who was a candidate for an office who owned property in Pennsylvania and Texas and thought this gave him the right to register and vote in both places. I also understand she knows this guy, what a crock.

Paul may be pointing out flaws in the GOP but since he is a libertarian I don't know how much this is going to change their thoughts.

They don't want to suppress just minority voters, they want to suppress anyone who might vote other than Republican.
