What good is the Federal Government

If we have states that

*take away your voting rights
*take away your reproductive rights
*incarcerate you for petty offenses so they can fill their private for profit prisons
*deny healthcare that the federal government is willing to subsidize

I am sorry...all I hear is "States rights" crap. But shouldn't we have our federal rights upheld as well?

If we did the federal way, we would not have a single "gay marriage" state or many other situations. States rights are a double edged sword.

You might enjoy Dr Bill O'Brien's show. He focuses on constitutional history and civic engagement. He is a professor and the shows can be a bit dry but you can rest assured by the end of the show he will drop the hammer and bring the entire discussion into focus on the most salient points.
