PILGER — Bret Michaels, his band and his crew rolled into town and rolled up their sleeves here Monday afternoon.

The rock star took a tour of the areas of the town devastated by tornadoes exactly one week ago.

At times choking back tears, Michaels said he had no idea the scope of the damage until he witnessed it with his own eyes.

“It’s one thing to see it on TV. But when you actually get out here, it’s completely different. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life,” Michaels said.
