"When it comes to the war in Iraq, the time for promises and assurances, for waiting and patience is over. Too many lives have been lost and too many billions have been spent for us to trust the President on another tried-and-failed policy, opposed by generals and experts, opposed by Democrats and Republicans, opposed by Americans and even the Iraqis themselves. It is time to change our policy. It is time to give Iraqis their country back . . ."
BARACK OBAMA, speech, Jan. 19, 2007

(31,849 posts)unfortunately, few of that 52% agree on what should be done on Iraq.
And none of that 52% (nor the other 48%) will be held accountable for whatever position they hold.

(13,992 posts)I can't believe that people look at the current shit storm and are thinking, "Man, I wish my kid was caught in the middle of that."

(31,849 posts)But how many people have kids caught up in what President Obama hasn't done ... Yet?
Have the numbers of "Advisors" risen? If not, people disagree with a decision that hasn't been made/enacted.

(46,416 posts)you can pretty much discount it, because most Americans know ZERO about foreign policy--they only know that there's a media pile-on on Obama, and that's good enough for them.

(31,684 posts)Americans are smarter than you think. They are sick of American military adventures in the Middle East and elsewhere.

(46,416 posts)Your theory is not borne out in this poll. "Disapproval" can mean they don't think he's doing enough, or they're just blaming him for whatever goes wrong in the world.

(31,849 posts)We just knew all about Syrian air strikes, too.

(31,849 posts)The polls say nothing about why they disapprove.
I have little to no faith in the American public; they are spoon fed and most never even look for their own answers. They question nothing, their knowledge of even rudimentary subjects are limited at best. Our society has to be the most selfish on the planet, voting against their own best interest constantly. Morons is an understatement, were stuck in mud on the same issue every election cycle, race, gender, religion, economics the 1% play the public like a flute daily, divide and conquer why change if still works every time?

(23,946 posts)Iraq, just as intended by the media.
Polling on complex matters is useless with a simpleminded pool

(31,849 posts)Plus, none of the polled public will be held accountable for their agreement/disagreement.

(10,893 posts)the respondents want him to do differently in Iraq. Are they in favor of a more hawkish agenda, or do they want something that is isolationist?

(72,790 posts)if the past and present are any indication. We need to cut our losses in that region and get the hell out once and for all.
