(62,328 posts)If we had responsible news media they would badger Boehner to death on this.
Edit to add - if the Ohio dumbass can do this, can we have Pelosi sue the pants off Bushco for the Iraq invasion just for a start?

Now watch that come around and bite her.
All these self-serving Congressional games just server to garner headlines/free publicity, and to justify the players remaining in their cushy jobs to handle the problems they themselves have created.

(82,849 posts)I mean, after the Republican-led House sued Bush the Dumber over and over again between 2003 and 2006 for all of his executive orders that in essence said that although Bush was signing the bill into law, he didn't feel particularly constrained to follow it or enforce it. What a donnybrook that was! A real knock-down drag-out affair.
Everybody remembers that, right? Because otherwise this just looks like political grandstanding, and Luke Russert is apparently stupid enough to believe it.

(3,596 posts)I complained during the Bush years at the promotion of the "unitary executive", the idea that the President could do anything he/she wanted whenever they wanted without limitation.
The decision on the EPA this week slightly weakened the President in the area of regulating greenhouse gases.
While I realize BO has taken a number of executive actions simply because Congress is full of dickheads, I am a firm believer that we cannot have an executive that exercises their power without restraint.
So I am torn. While I believe BO's decisions have been based on the need to do something in the face of a Congress that refuses to do anything, I am also mindful that I would like to see some limitations on the unbridled exercise of executive power.

Do you know which Presidents signed the most Exec. Orders?
did you know that Regan signed the most Exec. Orders since the Eisenhower Adminstration?
As in 3 times as many as Pres. Obama?
