Mississippi hasn't had a Democratic Senator since 1989, and even than one (John Stennis) wasn't exactly a McGovern Liberal. The GOP could have placed one of Thad Cochran's old barnyard dates on the ballot and probably would have won.

It's quite possible that sour grapes from the McDaniel supporters could still throw this seat to Childers if enough Baggers sit it out.

So my suggestion is, sign up on Bagger forums and urge them to withhold their votes from Cochran.

and assume there was a major influx of African American voters in this republican primary. I haven't seen the full demographic break down, but just a small increase of African Americans would've been enough to turn this election that's how close it was. Regardless if Cochran is reelected he owes his seat to them.
