decriminalization for CATO based on the Portugal success, he was advocating a liberal point of view. When he spoke at CATO about the results of his white paper, he was advocating a liberal point of view. When he is invited to speak, year after year, at the Socialist convention he speaks from a liberal point of view.

it seems a strange venue for him: it might mainly reflect just how incoherent and unorganized so-called "socialists" are in the US today

Nothing in Greenwald's history suggests he has ever had the slightest interest in, or sympathy for, anything that might be called "socialism." His stance essentially revolves around opposition to government. He has no discernible analysis, except opportunistic outrage over cases like that of the lunatic Barrett Brown. Objectively, he's really no friend of self-described "socialists"

Wed Jun 25, 2014, 04:47 AM

the Congressional Republicans were a major impediment to this goal. So SEIU began laying plans to support Democrats in the 2012 election

Greenwald reacted with his predictable outrage, objecting that SEIU had endorsed Obama for 2012, despite the fact that the 2012 election is almost a full year away and nobody knows who is running against President Obama -- as if the Republican challenger would likely be an improvement -- and complaining further that SEIU was hoping to shape, fund, dictate and decree an anti-GOP, pro-Obama march -- as if SEIU's experience with Congressional Republicans couldn't justify opposition to Republicans and their policies. In the same article, Greenwald further objected formulating specific legislative demands and working to elect specific candidates on the grounds that we should be working outside of political and legal institutions -- which is a recipe for accomplishing nothing whatsoever. Greenwald's theory is that we can somehow instill a healthy fear in the hearts and minds of the most powerful political and financial factions and that change will some flow in a magical manner from that. It's a moronic strategy. One obtains definite results by working towards definite results; if one has no definite goals and merely sets out to frighten people whom one regards as opponents, then probably something will happen, but it is unlikely to represent progress towards the secret goals one has refused to state explicitly. The only possible outcome of following the strategy recommended by Greenwald is burn-out and cynicism -- and that only serves the status quo

Here's the link to the article, yet another of his bullshit productions. Don't tell me Greenwald supports unions, and don't pretend he supports the working class, because he supports neither. He's an opportunist, looking for attention, with no real concern about the issues and no insight either
