Assuming a flat object against their gut. It's almost instinctual I think. I think the owl just wanted to GTFO and once it had a platform it used it. It probably didn't know the platform would release it, of course, but it allowed it attacking posture. Once outside the need to attack was removed.

We've had hummingbirds, seem to love my fuchsias. I love how their tiny wings are just a blur...

Re-record? Are you saying they should lure another owl into their house just to film it from a different angle? Yeah sounds reasonable to me. Why not?
