WND's Farah Caught With Loaded Gun At Airport
Topic: WorldNetDaily
As if running a "news" website that has forfeited all credibility wasn't enough, WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah is in legal trouble.
The Southern Poverty Law Center reports that Farah was caught by TSA agents with a loaded .38-caliber revolver in his carry-on bag as he passed through security at Dulles International Airport. Farah faces a class 1 misdemeanor charge for carrying a gun in an airport terminal. The SPLC confirmed reporting by the Washington Post, which has a picture of Farah's revolver.

(1,616 posts)that wing gremlin would have been a goner, and the movie would have had a very different ending.
Well, the plane would have had a hole blown in the window and it would have gone down.
But all that matters is that gremlin would have been taught a lesson!

And when the plane landed, John Lithgow, in restraints on a gurney says, "I'm kind of a hero."
The best clip I could find of it:

(11,487 posts)Yep, we like our guns here. In fact anyone who has a small moment of forgetfulness and 'accidentally' tries going through airport security with a gun simply gets sent on their way, no harm, no foul.
Geez, what's wrong with these idiots to think that it's no big deal to 'accidentally' carry a weapon onto a commercial airliner?

(3,539 posts)I have no doubt that Farah considered himself as "a good guy with a gun" and is probably indignant as to how anyone might think he would 'harm an airplane'.
Ya know, just the mental image of the sean at the airport, well it makes today a little brighter.

Hard to believe he would leave it loaded with target rounds, how cheap is that?

(56,358 posts)stand on firearms to seriously evolve. I think anyone arrested or caught with a fire arm in an airport should lose his right to own. Oh yeah, and melt that expensive piece into a paperweight.
I don't think he left an empty chamber on purpose.

(16,162 posts)If you're so stupid to forget that your carrying then you should never be allowed to carry a gun.
I think his S&W only holds 5 shots, like the ruger SP_101.

(36,213 posts)The Washington Post first reported the incident yesterday but described the individual in question as Joseph Farah, 49, of Centreville, Va. Hatewatch confirmed with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority today that in fact Joseph Francis Farah, who is 59, was cited for the weapon charge.

(56,358 posts)WND Editor Explains Airport Gun Incident: 'The TSA Agents Were Very Nice'

Eric Lach June 25, 2014, 3:22 PM EDT
Calling his actions "dumber than dumb," WND co-founder and birther leader Joseph Farah on Wednesday explained how he was stopped Sunday at Dulles International Airport with a loaded handgun in his bag.
"I did something stupid Sunday morning, resulting in being charged with a crime for the first time in my adult life," Farah wrote in a column for WND. "There is no excuse for my mistake."
In the column, titled "A Column I Never Wanted To Write," Farah explained that he had been "stressed out" over the weekend, and stayed awake Saturday night working on columns. The next day, he headed for the airport. He was scheduled to give a speech in Seattle on Monday.
"Somewhat groggy early Sunday, I actually searched my computer bag for my revolver," Farah wrote. "Im licensed to carry in Virginia. I didnt see it. When I got to Dulles Airport, I put the bag on the security belt. The TSA agents saw the gun and signaled me over."
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) first reported on Tuesday about Farah's run-in with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents at Dulles. The SPLC also pointed to a 2010 column Farah wrote, in which he described a prior "little TSA mini-nightmare" involving a broken suitcase zipper and rumpled clothing. This time, Farah had no complaints about a government agency he has accused of "systematic violations of Americans constitutional rights."
"The TSA agents were very nice," Farah wrote. "They expressed concern about my making the flight. They called the Virginia police as is protocol. They took photos of the firearm and me. They gave me a summons. Then they sent me on my way."
Stepping back from Sunday's incident, Farah wrote that he carries a concealed weapon "virtually" all the time, and that he receives death threats.
Farah then brought up the August 2012 shooting that took place at the Washington, D.C. headquarters of the conservative Family Research Council. The shooter in that case, Floyd Corkins, later told FBI agents that he identified the Family Research Council as anti-gay on the SPLC's website. (During the shooting, Corkins shot a security guard in the arm before being subdued.) Farah noted that his own organization has been labeled a hate group by the SPLC.
"You might note who broke the story that Joseph Farah was detained at Dulles Airport Sunday for carrying a handgun the Southern Poverty Law Center," Farah wrote, later concluding: "Again, Im not making any excuses about my dumb mistake last Sunday. What I did was dumber than dumb. But I thought you deserved to know the rest of the story, as my inspiration Paul Harvey would say."
Farah has not responded to multiple requests for comment from TPM.

(46,261 posts)It wasn't the SPLC that "broke" the story.
It was the Washington Post.
