Diving into the deep end

Two of our state legislators were lost to recall elections pushed by the gun lobby; a third resigned under threat of recall, her resignation saving the Democrat's majority. All this because of legislation that seeks to bring reason to this business of guns. Two of the worst gun massacres happened in this state: Columbine and Aurora. And the bloodbath continues around the country. Recent remarks by Joe the Plumber disgusted many but didn't really surprise anyone. Meanwhile, the NRA and other groups (around here, it's Rocky Mountain Gun Owners) continue to foment, and they promote and endorse candidates. As a private citizen I claim the right to un-endorse, and will do so by affixing this graphic to pictures of those candidates who value their guns over everything else.

At some point our grassroots efforts will be large enough to pay off. I cannot (will not) believe that Americans will continue down this road forever. Whatever effort we make is not wasted even if we only influence a few people each time.

The gun control movement has to find a way to motivate and mobilize voters. For what ever reason their message is not resonating with the public.

1. Pro-gun groups have convinced many people that regulation = confiscation.
2. Some gun-control advocates use insulting language that alienates many voters.
3. Romanticized concepts of liberty. "They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." -- Justin Bieber
4. Many view gun regulation as a violation of the 2A.

Disclaimer one: these are just guesses, and are not meant to be taken as sociology.
Disclaimer two: I have no idea how many "many" happens to be.
