NAACP Wants 'Reciprocity' from Cochran

Black voters played a huge role in helping Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) fend off tea party challenger Chris McDaniel (R) in a runoff election Tuesday, and now the state NAACP is asking the six-term senator to return the favor, the Huffington Post reports.

Derrick Johnson, president of the Mississippi NAACP, "said that Cochran could thank black voters by supporting efforts to re-establish protections in the Voting Rights Act that the Supreme Court struck down last year."

New York Times: "As a practical matter, that could mean pushing Mississippi officials for expanded black voting rights or more access to affordable health care, black leaders here said."

But perhaps their lack of reciprocity will inspire people to vote for their party in November. We can only hope...

And you are always welcome!

little to lose at this point. It appears that he just threw away his chance of reelection in November, by alienating the conservative base, which the Repubs will need in the general election. They are very angry and unforgiving about the way he gathered the votes to win this primary. There is much talk today from Tea Party types about sitting it out in November; to teach the "RINOs" a lesson, or something. Someone told me this morning that Sarah Palin and Sean Hannity were even discussing the possibility of a third party. They are pissed. Who knows? This may be enough to keep the Senate in Democratic hands.

He is considering a write-in campaign.

In that case, Childers can win and Cochran WILL NEED EVERY VOTE HE CAN GET.
