Spoiled Alert

If it's so goddamned important that something not be ruined for you, take the effort to actively avoid places where it might be spoiled.

Sure, in a perfect world everyone would say "spoiler alert", but guess what this is not a perfect world. People will slip up or be rude, or expect that since the rest of the world is talking about it, it's ok to talk about it.

If you day is ruined because you found out about the results of a soccer game, you should've taken better care to avoid places where it might be ruined for you.

Millions of people were watching this live on tv, online, or were following results in some other way. The news of the results splashed across every news site, current events site....

It takes a lot of damn gall to expect the entire world to stop spinning because you don't want to take the effort to avoid exposing yourself to something that most of the world was reporting on in live time.

I DVR sports quite often and when I do, I stay the fuck off DU. If it's important to me, I take proactive steps to keep it that way.

Fine, alert or even hide me because I'm right and it hurts your feelings. When are people going to be responsible for themselves and stop expecting everyone else to do all the work?

Skinner says re: spoiling events, that it takes common courtesy and common sense. If you know that common courtesy might not be practiced by all, take the common sense to avoid the place all together.
