Boehner’s Obama Lawsuit Backfires As Democrats Have Their Biggest Fundraising Day of 2014

Boehner’s Obama Lawsuit Backfires As Democrats Have Their Biggest Fundraising Day of 2014
By: Jason Easley
Thursday, June, 26th, 2014, 5:25 pm

John Boehner’s lawsuit against President Obama is already showing signs of becoming a Republican disaster, as thanks to Boehner, House Democrats had their biggest fundraising day of 2014.

According to Politico, “Speaker John Boehner’s announcement that House Republicans would sue President Barack Obama for misusing executive authority turned into a big payday for congressional Democrats. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee posted its best fundraising day of the year on Wednesday, bringing in $584,000, according to figures shared with POLITICO.”

It is obvious that part of the motivation for bringing up this lawsuit now was to fire up the Republican base ahead of the 2014 election. Since Republicans can’t run against Obamacare, and their latest Benghazi revival has flopped miserably, congressional Republicans needed something to run on. Boehner and his allies assumed that nothing would get the Republican base riled up more than dangling a whiff of Obama impeachment in front of them.

What Speaker Boehner didn’t count on was that his antics would also fire up Democratic voters. Yesterday’s record DCCC fundraising was $100,000 more than the previous record that was set in February after Paul Ryan revealed his budget. The majority of the 27,000 online donations came from people who donated less than $200. A sign of just how badly Republicans misjudged the lawsuit’s impact of Democrats was that 7,885 of the DCCC’s received donations came from first time donors.

The lawsuit was already looking like it would politically backfire on Republicans, and now it is financially backfiring on them too. Democrats who may have been planning on sitting 2014 out are getting engaged. Potential Democratic voters need to understand that 2014 isn’t going to be a typical midterm election. Republicans are eyeing up the Senate, and potentially removing President Obama from office.

If Speaker Boehner thought that he was going to be able to threaten President Obama with legal action with no consequences from Democrats, he was mistaken. Democrats aren’t about to sit back and let Republicans steal the presidency. Instead of motivating Republican voters, John Boehner may have awoken the same Democratic sleeping giant that crushed the GOP in 2006, 2008, and 2012.

I think most americans are sick and tired of the crap being pulled by the republicans, and when the house can't do a damned thing to help this country out, like passing bills for infrastructure, jobs, unemployment extensions, etc. Then complain about democrats "WASTING MONEY", yet they have wasted millions on shutting down the government, voting to end Obamcare, and now this, well I think the time has come when all their BS is going to come back and bite them big time in their butt!

Not going to be too much fun if no one turns out and we lose the Senate, but if we can GOTV 2014.....we will be good. I am seeing more and more idiotic stuff from the right that is "perhaps" causing the democrats and independents to "maybe" vote this year......one can hope. My primary was Tuesday and I was extremely disappointed at the turnout.

that the person who sends in a $5.00 donation can be counted on to vote. And probably along with his/her family. When someone says, "it's not the money...etc.; it's not the money. It's the vote that REALLY counts.

"DAY", not "month' or "quarter". Democrats have their own millionaires and billionaires and bundlers who will step up eventually.

But the key is the bodies that show up at the polls.

not for a Presidential election. So if they can spread some of that around to Democrats in obscure locations running for a House seat, more power to them.

The media is purposefully ignoring the existence of swing House seats and instead are focusing on torpedoing and sinking Democrats in the Senate. Democrats only need to flip 17 seats to take back the House and if they can pick off one here, one there, another 2 over there, etc., the potential is there to regain the House.

and the Republican Party--idea that a person's value is represented by money and that those without are somehow "owned" by those who have regardless of the demands of their labor. It is, at best, a cynical view of humanity and, at worst, an evil and predatory one.

When the republican party falls, the [rest of the] big money -will- go to the Democratic party, and we'll see all this Union busting, austerity, tax cuts for the rich, and other ailments and bad policy come from Democratic leaders even more strongly than they do now. I've said this on DU many times, and am promptly ignored.

will create a new conservative party after jettisoning the extremists of the Teabagger ilk. Conservative monied people want nothing to do with the peoples of the left, whom they despise and see as takers. Some just understand that those so-called "takers" need to buy the goods and it doesn't pay to alienate them too much.

There are signs that this genetic abnormality may actually be transmitted to the offspring.

There are also signs that someone that has a F*X fog is less able to attract mates and probably has a lower sperm viability. This leads us to believe that they will die off in the next 3-4 generations - unfortunately, not soon enough for most of us.

Democrats aren’t about to sit back and let Republicans steal the presidency.

I hoping that Dems are waking up to the fact that 2 thefts were enough. Those "swing" voters and light blue Dems need to realize that the 2010 temper tantrums and staying home on election day got us into this gridlock and the only way to break it is to GOTV in November. If the Rethugs keep the House, and take over the Senate, the first order of business will be to impeach Obama.

I make a lot of donations in small amounts to different candidates. It's just to let them know there's little folks out here rooting for them. Plus it buys a lot of information via emails. But the biggest reward is my keeping involved and convincing myself that I'm making a difference. Whether I am or not. I actually care.
