Quote of the Day
"I'm not going to apologize for trying to do something while they're doing nothing."
-- President Obama, in an interview with ABC News, on the lawsuit brought by House Republicans over his use of executive actions.

(6,234 posts)Such as ending these wars, ending Free Trade rather than secretly expanding it, ending the drone wars, reigning in the NSA rather than running full tilt boogie with domestic spying, prosecuting Wall Street instead of publicly funding their fucking bonus checks, single payer rather than insurance mandates, raising the cap instead of chained CPI, etc...

(31,849 posts)As I doubt you, or anyone else, voted for President Obama to "end Free Trade, end the drone wars, reign in the NSA, or raise the cap instead of chained CPI", because, honestly, no/few of these items were on many folks' radar in 2012, and certainly not in 2009.

(2,062 posts)YES...good for you Mr. President..... you keep swinging at the heads of the GOP shits, Don't let them bring you down, and you keep trying to prevent them from destroying our country. A lot of people are on this site and not on your side, well from the first day you were president, you were looking out for this country. Yes, I have not agreed with all your decisions, all of your thought processes, like....
I believe ACA should have gone further into single payer health care. I believe we should have added more money to the original govt bailout, but all in all, you came into a crappy situation and have handled it well. I don't believe any president has had to put up with the blatant racism that you have endured.

(31,849 posts)and will likely blow up in the gop's face, at the must inopportune moment ... in the height of the 2104 election cycle.
With this suit, it will be nearly impossible to control the message as the Administration will be able to answer all the "over-reach" charges with: Everything is constitutionally permissible; but more, necessary, as congress has been unable/unwilling to act on important matters of state.
The response to the suit will read as a campaign ad for Democrats ... particularly, those running for a House seat, and to a lesser degree, a Senate seat. The response will highlight all the measures that Democrats/the Administration has put forward to deal with Jobs, the infrastructure, climate change, student debt, workers' wages, and all the other areas where President Obama has issued Executive Orders, only to be killed by the republican House, or "filibustered" in the Senate ... And Highlight what republicans have offered instead ... 50+ votes to repeal the ACA, anti-abortion bills, etc., but nothing to address the areas where Executive Orders were issued.
I can't think of a better way to get the obstruction message out to the electorate, than having to answer this suit.

(750 posts)The GOP Conservative party today is not what Americans think it is. Especially after listening to Rush Limbaugh making his agreements for hours at a time day after day about who will have control the Congress this next election.
What is funny is that Limbaugh being a very heavy weight insider connected to Bush and company is always in that hateful rant towards liberals. The hateful rant is vividly illustrated by news commenters like Pirro at Fox news to affix blame for anything to President Obama as if Obama is acting to benefit his self.
From my view this type of reporting which is just hate and smear in a consciousness wickedly intended does impair normal political thinking. That is why many consider any Republican Party rant as more in being a Republican political crime syndicate. I do believe it is true.
The news media has been shielding Bush and Cheney from real truths for decades. Hiding the fact Bush and Cheney are very connected as friends and business partners to the very Al Qaeda Arabs we are fighting, the Bin Laden family. That used to be considered treason. Now the media is so in bed with corruption there no recourse but for the media to lie until the boomer generation dies.
This friendly profiteering with the enemy has transpired through decades of very connected political business partnerships with the Bin Laden family. The whole history of doing business with the enemy goes back to Bushs grandfather Prescott Bush financing the Nazi during World War two, profiteering from that war decades ago.
The media has brought America to where we are now by not fessing up to tell the truth about the Bush Cheney Republican Party criminal syndicate. Its obvious this Republican Party political crime syndicate swindles, profiteers, makes false wars, introduces falsified documentation, and covers up corruption under the blanket of national security secrets. Worse far too many people vote for them.
