Like I said before, the school closes leaving students, parents and possibly teachers out in the cold, while the big guys at the top run off with lots of money they paid themselves.
Wisconsin International School abruptly closes
Updated: Jun 26, 2014 11:43 PM CDT
A private school in De Pere notified parents Thursday its doors were closed, effective immediately.
A parent shared a copy of the letter from Wisconsin International School with Action 2 News, which they received after 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon. It's addressed to parents, students, faculty and staff.
"It is with a very heavy heart that the Board and the Head of School at the Wisconsin International School are announcing that WIS is closing its doors effective June 26th, 2014."
It goes on to say, "We, the Board and the Head of School, together with our legal and accounting team, are working as quickly as possible to establish a fair and prudent process to wind down operations." It says more details will be given as soon as possible.
The parent wondered what's happened to their tuition, which was paid in advance. The letter doesn't specifically address tuition.
Action 2 News attempted to contact officials at Wisconsin International School. We were directed to WIS Board President Tony Thiel and received a statement in reply simply, "At this time we have no further comment beyond the letter already shared with the WIS community."

And the students go back to the public schools whether there is room or not?

(50,453 posts)Here's the "tuition and fees" part of their website; this place has closed so quickly they haven't posted that fact to their website. At least as of yet.

This school may be too expensive to be a Choice school. Very likely they started with good intentions then found out the hard way why most new private schools are religious.

(32,778 posts)After all, they have teams of "... lawyers and accountants..." (and unmentioned lobbyists) to insure it.
I do find it odd, however, that their missive doesn't mention... I don't know, TEACHERS! I'd think they might have something to do with the decision process.

. that shouldnt be allowed let the parents find a nice expensive private school to send the charter-school kids to, cause see all the tax money that would have gone to the public schools was redirected to the c.s. admin and they ran off with the money.

Once Taron Monroe hustled to get hers and the state was convinced that Rodney Monroe was no longer in a teaching or administrative position, the taxpayer money continued flowing, according to the DPI.
John Johnson, DPI spokesman, said Wednesday that the department's authority over voucher schools, which are all private and predominantly religious, is limited.
There's nothing in state law that allows the DPI to take action against a private school because of low academic performance or because of a school leader's personal finances, Johnson said.

So public schools can be shut down for failing tests, but the charter schools are immune from any regulation at all? Again and
