republicans are running the government

Yep.

Here we are:

Scotus- repub majority

House- repub majority

Senate- repub majority when it comes to fillibuster

Military- repub majority

So... if you have problems with how well government is serving the public, there is one very good target to blame.

You have to give them credit though, they do know how to marginalize democratic presidents & cow them into "playing ball"..

Military service members do tend to skew "conservative" but they do still tend to follow orders regardless of political ideology. Would like to see them kick Rush off of Armed Forces Radio though. The Repubs have created a dynamic that leaves them essentially in control of Congress. Their ability to control the Senate confirmation process has largely been neutered but they can still prevent legislation from being debated, let along come to a final vote. I would like to see the Repubs reduced to the size where they have lost procedural, as well as numerical control of Congress and are left being able to wail and gnash their teeth. I was hoping that President Obama would have a little longer to push more initiatives through Congress but modern Democratic Presidents seem to get 2 years to get anything done and then Republicans get control and obstruct. We have the opportunity to launch a major revolution in the Senate in 2016 where the GOP will be defending 20+ seats and we could conceivably rectify many of the 2010 "mistakes" and win a Senate supermajority and, maybe even win back the House.

He said republicans don't think government can be run properly, and when they get elected they set out to prove it.

But recently he has been seen holding hands with republicans, even after they impeached him over a blow-job. I guess everyone has their price?

Or winding down the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, or any of the other things the White house currently lists as accomplishments?

I personally think the idea of any single entity actually having "control" of government is silly. Even "the rich" that call the shots are more a grouping of competing factions (very wealthy ones) than an organized group.

Western democracies. Our two-party system is, functionally, way too close to a one-party monopoly in some respects.

Sometimes I feel like the two parties are just playing "good cop, bad cop" with the American people to force something unpopular through that they've both already decided upon.

Even if, in the end, I'm choosing 'Brave New World' over 'The Handmaid's Tale.' Given my choice of dystopian futures I'd rather have the first one.

I have nothing to back this, but it seems that dems don't pay as close attention to state & local races. ??? Curious what others think.
