"Nanny who wouldn't leave" has disappeared...

New twist in the story.

Nanny Who Wouldn't Leave Has Disappeared

The live-in nanny who was fired but refused to leave has apparently left.

Diane Stretton baffled Marcella and Ralph Bracamonte of Upland, California, when, they said, she stopped working after several months, was dismissed, but refused to move out.

Stretton's standoff with the Bracamonte family became public this week and Stretton left the house early Thursday morning.

“She left around 7 a.m. yesterday morning and she never came back,” Marcella Bracamonte told ABC News.

“I have no idea where she goes. I don’t know what happened,” she said.

The mom said that when Stretton left Thursday, there was no indication that she wasn't coming back and her belongings were still in her room.

Stretton has not responded to numerous phone calls from ABC News.

Just a joke of course, but those folks ought to take this opportunity to neatly stack all of her stuff on the curb and change the locks!

5. She doesn't have mental health issues. She's a lifelong grifter.

She has lived basically free most of her life I bet.

She's probably moved on to her next victim.

I fucking hate grifters.

I don't care what becomes of her. Of course since folks like her always win, she is probably at another cushy job as we speak. I was sick to my stomach all day long knowing the hell those poor folks had to go through. Prisoners in their own home. Thank God they went to the media.

What they need to do is post a "notice of abandonment" on her door, wait for it to expire, then enter the room. If her stuff is worth less than $200 resale (ie garage sale) value they can pitch it (but they should photograph it first in case she attempts to contest the value.) If it's not they need to store it for 90 more days and can charge her for the storage if she returns.

They should also photograph everything for their own protection. Personally I would also suggest having a third party observe any entry into the room until the items are boxed up for storage, which isn't legally necessary but is an added layer of protection.

She's a grifter and a known vexatious litigant. If they put her shit on the curb she's going to be down at the courthouse on Monday morning filing a suit for the loss of her property and any imaginary and expensive property she thinks she can get away with adding, as well as for an illegal eviction.

Moral of the story: background check and get references on anybody you hire. It's cheaper to protect yourself on the front end than to clean up messes on the back end.
