McDaniels Declares Victory!

State Senator Chris McDaniel, who was narrowly defeated by incumbent U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Mississippi) last Tuesday in a heated primary runoff, is soldiering on.

In an email sent to supporters Friday night, McDaniel emphasized he won the "Republican" primary — an apparent reference to Cochran openly soliciting many Democrats to vote in the runoff.

"Thank you for all your help. You've done some amazing things. On June 3rd we won the popular vote. On June 24th we won the Republican primary election. As you might have heard, we're not quite done," McDaniel wrote.

McDaniel then asked his supporters to reach out to a law firm, which he said was in need of volunteers.

I suppose what he could do would be to try to discredit the fall result by launching campaign to get his supporters to spoil their ballots.

The Republicans have totally lost control of their fringe. I'd be scared if I could stop laughing long enough!

I hope the teabaggers get so overwrought about this that they show us new heights of idiocy that we never even dreamed of seeing! I hope they have a big crying jag for the whole nation to see. I'll make martinis of their tears and wallow in their anguish. In Mississippi. you have to enjoy the entertainment when you get it. It's boring here most of the time, but when it's good, it's very good.

The GOP has tried, and failed, to reign in their Tea Party fringe. They made the mistake of embracing them in the first place to gain control of congress, and now the Teabaggers are high on the power they gave them. It is going to take them years and years to kill off the monster they set loose on their party. The funniest part is there is no way for them to remain whole either during or after the battle for power!

In an extreme scenario they could potentially even lose Mississippi before the whole war is over. Now wouldn't that be a poke in the eye?

To not only have a Dem as president and having demographic patterns working against you, but also having your own party squabbling amongst itself and many of the ideologues getting frustrated with the establishment and threatening to break off to do their own thing. The only things the Reds have in their favor are CU, gerrymandering, the SC, and being in power in the House. If those go down the drain, it's a rap.
