There should be an annual DU convention.

I was checking this thread out http://www.democraticunderground.com/10025163044

and thought how nice it would be. We could alternate areas of the country, always having it someplace that is not too expensive.

I think someplace warm during the winter for the first one...

to speak, we can have break out sessions on LGBT rights, feminism, Latino and African American rights, the economy, etc., with experts in all of those things come talk to us.

Every night, fun icebreaker get togethers.

Hmmm. Liking this more and more!!!

Plus, hotels & convention centers are probably less expensive in those states.

it is on my bucket list of places I want to visit though. Something like this event could possibly bump up my trip.

I'm much nicer in person. I have a difficult time translating that in writing sometimes. Either that, or I tend to post more when I'm ticked off.

I do realize the need to work on it, though.

I've been to several meetups, and they are always fun.

It would be great to meet folks I haven't already met, and to renew the ties with those I have!

There is something to be said for developing an idea of others thoughts with no distractions regarding age, looks, style, smell, etc....maybe it's just me?

A typical convention has speakers, workshops, seminars, social activities, etc. which all require committees and hierarchies and officers...

So, what shall be the goal of our organization?

Some of us have limited ranges of movement due to stuff (money, disabilities, etc).

And I think convention type space there is inexpensive. It should be added to the list of possibilities if we do this.
