The Week in Review - Things Looking Up

This past week, Minnesota had a lot going on, and most of it was very positive. Some of the highlights:


President Obama was in town for a couple of days. Here, he's having a burger at Matt's Bar with a woman who wrote him a letter. He also had a town hall meeting and gave a speech, in which he called out the Republicans pretty sharply. I saw photos of him with Al Franken, too, who has been running some excellent campaign ads on TV recently. It bodes well for November, I think.


It's Pride Weekend 2014. Lots of stuff happening. More street closures, lots of folks in town. Lots of activities.


We're getting a break from the heavy rains and flooding, and everyone's starting to dry out, pump out, and look forward to drier weather for at least a week. Lots of damage, but plenty of hope, too.


We took the pooches to Pet A Palooza yesterday, where they met numerous other doggies and people who like doggies. Sam, the lab rescue beagle from Beagle Freedom Project, opened right up and was wagging his tail furiously as he sniffed and was sniffed. Today, he had another breakthrough and actually walked through a gate on his leash for the first time. He has a fear of going through doorways and gates that probably relates to his three years in a lab. Once he got through the gate, he seemed to realize what he had done, so he sat down and looked at me, as if to say, "See. It's getting better. Thanks!"
