Nation editor stuns ‘architect of catastrophe’ Bill Kristol: Join Iraqi Army if you want war

Nation editor stuns ‘architect of catastrophe’ Bill Kristol: Join Iraqi Army if you want war
By David Edwards

The Nation‘s Katrina Vanden Heuvel on Sunday challenged neoconservative Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol to join the Iraqi Army if he felt so strongly about the U.S. taking more military action in the country in response to recent violence.

During an ABC News panel discussion about House Speaker John Boehner’s threat to sue President Barack Obama for executive overreach, Vanden Heuvel agreed that there were times that Congress should question the president’s authority.

“For example, the president should go to Congress if he’s going to take military action in Iraq,” she explained. “There’s no military solution to Iraq, and I have to say, sitting next to Bill Kristol, man — I mean, the architects of catastrophe that have cost this country trillions of dollars, thousands of lives — there should be accountability.”

“If there are no regrets for the failed assumptions that have grievously wounded this nation — I don’t know what happened to our politics and media accountability, but we need it, Bill,” she continued. “Because this country should not go back to war. We don’t need armchair warriors, and if you feel so strongly, you should, with all due respect, enlist in the Iraqi Army.”

“That’s a very cute line,” Kristol shot back.

“But it’s real!” Vanden Heuvel insisted. “Millions of Iraqis have been displaced… What we have done to that country is a crime.”

That ABC actually invited Katrina Vanden Heuvel to appear on its execrable talking-head wankfest in the first place! Usually, it's wall-to-wall warmonger all around the dial on Sunday morning (please pardon my anachronistic reference to the teevee 'dial').

He should take the opportunity to ponder the decisions he and others are suggesting unless they want to step up to the plate themselves.

when he went to the hill and tossed the ball of those who were criticizing his decisions back in their laps? Like when he asked them to repeal the AUMF?

There was nothing but the sounds of crickets over there. None of the chickenhawks and armchair warriors are fit to lead, period.

This is getting on the MIC owned and operated MSM because Obama has changed the rules of the game, as they can't shame him into a war. When you have a heart for people and hard choices to make, that's always the focus, not the ego that the Beltway media and the rest of the insane clown posse thrive on.

As he has said, it's not about him. No matter how hard some try to make it. No, it's about us.

Americans may even wake up to a new way of living. Just as we expected from Obama, and he is delivering on that change. It will not all be pleasant, but the riches falling into some pockets will have to be earned elsewhere, and that is what makes them scream in outrage.

He thinks adequate punishment for Bush is losing seats in Congress???
THIS is why some of these guys have to do some real time behind bars. They don't why what they do is just wrong so they need to at least understand what HAPPENS to them if they DO IT.

Misogyny has always had Bloody Bill Kristol as its "poster" boy

His dismissive attitude towards Vanden Heuvel a key problem we struggle with.

Women are the majority by population. They are our mothers and grandmothers and sisters and daughters; that we allow men of what some would regard as dubious privilege to decide the choices that women can make in health care, income equality and status should be considered tantamount to matricide.

I nearly jumped off the sofa and applauded her smacking that fookin' chickenhawk, neocon filth. he needs to be spanked publicly, EVERYTIME he is confronted on the Sunday talk shows. We wouldn't have this fookin' problem in Iraq and the Middle East today, if WE HADN'T INVADED IRAQ UNDER FALSE PRETENSES!! Whose fault?.....cheney and the clown, that's who.

Individuals such as Kristol, Cheney, et alia get free reign to spout off as if they were sacred oracles. Their comments are not wisdom, and certainly are false, they are excreta. Rarely, does an individual come (or would be permitted) to call them on their mendacity. Those speaking as Democrats are usually beyond timid to do so, either in fear of bad publicity in regard of voting or funding; or far worse, as professional courtesy, or as part of the fix of the establishment's permitted spectrum.

When these noxious wind bags get confronted with a needle, they deflate.
