MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Says Hillary Clinton Is 'Out Of Touch,' Lacks 'Self-Awareness'

MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell had some harsh words for Hillary Clinton during an appearance on NBC's "Meet The Press" Sunday. Mitchell told host David Gregory that Clinton is "rusty" and "out of touch," to judge by recent comments the former secretary of state made during her ongoing book tour.

"She is a little bit out of touch," Mitchell said, "despite all of her work and all of her connection to hardworking people in the middle class."

Mitchell's criticism is a response to recent comments Clinton made to ABC's Diane Sawyer that her family was "dead broke" when they left the White House in 2000. Those remarks have made Clinton the target of tough media criticism this month, in which Mitchell is now the latest participant.

"It's a little bit of lack of self-awareness when she talks about being dead broke and she then tried to fix it, but still not getting the language, you know, politically correct," Mitchell said.

It's not like Mrs. Greenspan is going to acknowledge any of us who were hurt by her husband's policies. She's too out of touch to know we exist.

I have no problem with them having money. I do have a problem with the thoughtlessness of the comments and disregard for political fall out.

they have been part of the elite. THEN she can make the case for policies that help the middle class and the poor. Others can make the case that from the time the Clintons graduated Yale, their decisions showed that they valued public service over making money. (The same argument that could be made of FDR, JFK, Al Gore, John Kerry, Howard Dean etc. The fact that all these people had the choice to make incredible amounts of money had they used the connections they were born into or got in elite colleges -- and they chose to serve instead.)

Yes, I know that they were poorer than most people entering the White House, but attaining that position made them among the cream of the cream. When leaving the WH, she had a book advance of $8 million, he was very likely to get more. He had a Presidential pension and she had the salary of a Senator. More importantly was that they were connected to the entire power elite.

Many wealthy people have won the Presidency - including Democrats like FDR and JFK. This is not a right wing conspiracy, this is a reaction to a set of comments that the Clintons all made. I think calling her "rusty" is actually praise in that it suggests that her norm was and will be again to be much better avoiding saying things that like this -- and unbelievably repeating them after they go down poorly.

Universities, the truth is UNLV Foundation raised money to give to UNLV, the speaking fee was negotiated before the fund raiser, donated by different people and went to Clinton Global Initiative, a charity group set up by Bill Clinton. I would say if the current, past and future students of UNLV does not appreciate the funds they receive from the UNLV Foundation and would rather have their tuitions raised in the future for lack of money donated should step up to the plate and raise hell to have their tuitions raised.
