Former Procter & Gamble CEO to be nominated as VA Head

As reported in the Chicago Tribune 6/29/14, Robert McDonald, former CEO of Procter & Gamble has been selected by President Obama to succeed Eric Shinseki as the new chief of the Veterans Administration.

Mr. McDonald, 61, is a graduate of the US Military Academy and was decorated for his military service. He had a long career with P&G, beginning as an assistant brand manager 31 years ago.

P&G has been headquartered in Republican stronghold Cincinnati for 176 years. It seems unlikely that anyone with any progressive tendencies would comfortably "fit in" there for 31 years and rise that far. It wouldn't surprise me if he's a total corporatist who believes privatization is the only way to go for the VA, and he'll get all kinds of support for it from his profiteering Republican buddies.
