The last possible resort was a challenge during the counting of the Electoral Votes in January. House Democrats officially challenged, but the rules required at least one Senator to sign on. Not a single Democratic senator would sign the challenge. Blame them. Gore himself had no other options.

Mon Jun 30, 2014, 10:52 AM
Jun 2014

It came from the sole fact that, through either incompetence or malfeasance, Florida fucked up their own election process.

If Nader earned his place on the ballot legally, the point is moot. If people voted for him, they had every right to do so.

Florida, on the other hand, could have fielded both a workable ballot AND counted the votes accurately, they did neither, hence why the outcome was decided in the court.

I really don't give two fucks about Nader. Gore would have won the election outright, had the votes were all counted correctly anyway, despite Nader's bid.

Sadly, in some ways it was the perfect storm of corruption, voter suppression, ego and incompetence. I SOOO wish Graham had been chosen rather the Lieberman for vice-president, it would not have been close enough for the Bush forces to steal the election, and he would have made a good vice-president.

We steer the party via primary elections. Then vote for the Democrat in the general election, holding your nose if necessary. Then vote against them again in the next primary.

In the primary, Democratic candidates don't have the option to "appeal to the center". In general elections, they do. As a result, we have far more power in primary elections than in general elections.

And I will vote for the Dem nominee come hell or high water so that the Republicans, who are holding on to the USSC by the old, white skin of their teeth and doing immeasurable damage, will not be able to keep their dark cloud over my children's future.

What can you do? And hey, religiosos - what happens when some Sharia Muslim business folk assert the same right that YOU assumed was only going to be confined to the Southern Baptist contingent? Whaddya do then?

Hey, folks at the state level - STILL think both parties are alike? STILL think there's no point in voting? STILL think your voice counts as much as the wackos who show up, pardon the pun, religiously at the polls every doggone time, whether it's for President or dog catcher - IF YOU DON'T SHOW UP??? STILL think what YOU thought was "settled law" really IS accepted as "settled law"?

I hope this sends a message to all the marriage equality advocates across America. Just because you're winning now doesn't mean that will stand. There are far too many people who think YOU do not deserve such rights or protections, and the Supreme Court has just opened the door to arguments they can now use on their side - to insist that THEIR "closely-held" religious right trumps yours. And they don't give up. They WILL be coming for those hard-earned and hard-fought rights you've recently won. GUARANTEED. Indeed, they already are!

Why? Because while the presidents a key spot they all play a part from the senate who confirms the positions to local state government as its the local state government that sets the districts and the republicans have been able to gerrymander so many of the districts to favor their candidates at the federal level because they realized long ago that the state level government matters alot more than just the office of president.
