At least it used to.

I learned about this in an intersting book about the death of Pope John Paul I, the one who served only a month before dying. There was a book written about his death called In God's Name. There was suspicion that he was murdered because he wanted to approve artificial birth control. The author investigated the Vatican's finances, and discovered that they had stock in companies that produced birth control pills.
