It started with the gay discrimination of Chick Fil A and Barilla's pasta. I won't go to Chick Fil A (gross anyway), but I threw out every single box of Barilla pasta in my pantry. I will buy some unknown brand of pasta in the supermarket. While Tom Montague isn't the CEO of Domino's any more, I still won't go there (again, gross). I live about 15 miles from his utopia of Ave Maria. Maybe my local Mom and Pop's religious views may oppose gays and contraceptives, but at least they only hire their own family members, and no other employees who don't agree with them.
I just found out that Taco Bell is also a "religious employer". While I don't eat at Taco Bell, I have on occasion bought their Salsa and Seasonings. Screw it. I have chili powder, paprika, cumin, etc., in my pantry. I can make my own. Not difficult to make your own Salsa from scratch either.
Ok, I want these "religious" companies to come out and DECLARE they discriminate based on THEIR religion. I guess they probably don't want to because they are FOR PROFIT and that might hurt their bottom line. Poor, babies. Suffer the CONSEQUENCES of your religion.
If YOU for profit can discriminate based on your religion, as a CONSUMER I can discriminate against YOU also. I wish somebody would publish a list of these "religious" corporations who discriminate based on THEIR RELIGION. I will refuse to buy your product or darken your doorways. Do I as a Consumer have that right? Of course I DO.

(574 posts)First of all, they are NOT Hindu, and they DO serve beef!
Here's a link to a Taco Bell menu:

Secondly, Yum! Brands, Inc. or Yum! is a United States-based Fortune 500 corporation. Yum! operates four licenses Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Wing Street restaurants worldwide. Prior to 2011, Yum! also owned Long John Silver's and A&W Restaurants.
The current chairman and chief executive officer of Yum! Brands is David C. Novak.
Third, in 2012, Family Foods, Inc., a company that operates a number of Taco Bell restaurants in North Carolina, agreed to pay $27,000 to settle a religious discrimination lawsuit filed on behalf of an employee who was fired after refusing to cut his hair for religious reasons. This was a local franchise owner--not the corporation!
I'd like someone to explain what the Taco Bell corporation has done to merit being on a shit list, except for selling horrible faux-exican food.

(10,951 posts)"religious" corporations. It would be great if someone started a Facebook page when people report in when they find a "religious" corporation so that documentation can be on an ongoing basis.

(3,169 posts)There is no other food they try so hard to get at.
The only time I've come close to being bitten by one of them was when I tried to take away the empty Taco Bell wrapper before he was done with it.

(26,549 posts)Taco Bell is Yum! Foods, a massive conglomerate that has expressed no religious views.
A Taco Bell Franchise owner in North Carolina did act as a "religious employer". But that is a different company than Yum!.

(13,992 posts)This is Green America's "Responsible Shopper" list of companies. Not exactly the opposite, I guess, it rates companies (both good and bad) with regard to their corporate practices.
Responsible Shopper
Edit: Hobby Lobby isn't on the list, so I suspect this requires an update.
