I am SO fucking tired of hearing the worn out canard of "personal responsibility" regarding

birth control.

Isn't just about the majority of healthcare and prescription drugs related in some way to personal responsibility?

Why should I have to pay for someone who makes poor lifestyle choices medications for high blood pressure, cholesterol or other medications?
People that have Diabetes or heart disease or kidney disease because they chose to live unhealthy lifestyles? Why should I pay for that when they made the personal choice destroy their bodies through food, smoking, illicit drugs and drinking?

What about pain medicine? What if I believe that all pain is psychosomatic and people just need to suck it up because I think pain medicine is addictive and it isn't good for someone?

What about elective surgery? Elective. That means voluntary. Why should I care if you choose to have a surgery that will make it easier for your life? If it isn't necessary, then the surgery is a personal choice. Pay for it out of pocket if you want it.

It's supposed to be about serving the greater good.

Healthcare isn't ala carte. I am highly offended that I pay a shitload for insurance but MY medicine isn't covered, yet someone else who lives an unhealthy lifestyle medication's are.

Their argument is so flimsy, so weak. I do not think it really stands up to scrutiny.

they used to say Pravda isn't the truth and Izvestia isn't the news.

The meaning of "personal responsibility" in the context of the GOP is a bit like that.

In a Republican Paradise your heart attack would go something like this: "Hi, I'm having a heart attack and I'm looking for the hospital that will give me the best bang for my buck. What do you have to offer me that the others don't?"

information on how to live a healthy life style. Health is not profitable. So as long as we promote bad health and medication over information we bare the responcibility to pay for the results.

I had to check to see if I was on the "other" site.
I'm fine with helping because most people are doing the best they can. We need universal healthcare.

I don't venture to the "other" site...maybe you do, I have no idea. But I can pretty much tell ya that I am just as or more progressive than you.

This is in response to all of the people saying that they don't want to pay for "my birth control " because I should pay for "my lifestyle choices". Isn't pretty much a significant part of healthcare due to lifestyle choices? Why pay for any of it if we don't pay for all of it.

Sorry, I have been sarcasm impaired for a while. I was wondering what on earth was going on since I know you're in healthcare as am I.
