Can't come up with a good headline... Cops and Crime.

The police are no longer "the police" they are now a branch of the military. They get everything, all the toys, riot gear, weapons, tanks..
Too bad the brilliant minds in charge didn't think they needed military training to go with all that hardware. We might as well have given shoulder mounted rocket launchers to the KKK...

The citizens have their militias, their signs saying "If You See Something Say Something" their George Zimmermans... They have become "The Police". They are planted on rooftops in Ferguson and they are crawling around the border playing soldier. By looking around you you would think that we are living on the edge, that any second you could be the victim of a terrorist, or a "thug".

But, here is the thing, in spite of the fact that we are in a recession(you might not be but I still am) in spite of the fact that bankers stole money and peoples homes right out from under them and were then rewarded with bailouts, in spite of the fact that the minimum wage is half of what it should be, in spite of the fact that corporations like Wal-Mart are sucking off the tax payer, while ripping off employees, in spite of all this.. CRIME IS AT A 40 YEAR LOW. There are half the number of murders than there were just 25 years ago. HALF.

Yes, in spite of the fact that we are being royally fucked over we are committing less and less crime. And once legalization makes it's rounds crime will drop even further.

It's time we take that stupid "To Serve and Protect" shit off the cop cars. Maybe they can put it on the tanks, sniper rifles and sonic cannons.
