Wisconsin mother who made porn videos with toddler son gets 7 years in prison

Jessica Bell taped herself having sexual relations with her little boy. Hundreds of emails talking about having sex with the child were found on her computer.

Even the judge, who is a seasoned former prosecutor, appeared disgusted by the mother who stood before him in a Wisconsin court.

Jessica Bell, 25, was sentenced to seven years in prison for making pornographic videos starring her having sexual relations with her toddler son.

"This behavior is contrary to the laws of nature," said Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Stephanie Rothstein as she announced the woman's punishment earlier this week, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Maybe I could see it if she got 30 years and agreed to intense therapy, but no way 7 years is enough. Yeah, my gut says she should get life.

Not excusing it, just thinking perhaps that factor was a mitigating circumstance to the sentence? Dunno.

Children are seen as products to be exploited in child porn or worse. They grow up and exploit their own children. It's all they know.

7 years might be enough to break the cycle since her child was so young and will be too old for the video trade when she gets out and, at 11, getting too old to pimp out to child predators. I'd rather see her in the can for 10 years, personally, since that would ensure her son would be too old to continue abusing when she's out. The classic pattern for female child sexual predators is to stop as soon as the kid sprouts pubic hair.

I know what it does to kids who grow up with it. One of my good friends a long time ago was a brilliant man who could just never cope with it and who died of alcoholism by the age of 40. When I think of what he might have been had his mother not been a sexual freak, it makes me sick.

I hope she gets help in prison. I hope the kid gets help while she's gone. I hope the cycle is broken in that family permanently. I hope...

And if it had been a man doing this, he would have gotten thirty years. Justifiably so.

Women seem to get much lighter sentences for sex crimes, even when they are as horrendous as anything any man could possibly do.

That still doesn't change the fact that women are treated sympathetically (even when they deserve no sympathy, such as the subject of the OP) and men are treated (properly) like monsters.

I lived in WA state during the whole Mary Kay Letourneau crap, and I remember it well. Some people actually thought of it as some sort of love story.

that sentences for rape of a child are light. I was disappointed when the SCOTUS said that a perp couldn't get the DP for that crime, you had to kill the child to merit that.

I strongly want to see BOTH genders treated equally and harshly for this most heinous of crimes.
