Torture has no place in society.

One of the many sad legacies outside the tragic deaths deaths that occurred on "911" is the justification of torture and the trampling of basic human rights.

Putting aside the morality of torture itself.

Torture simply does not work, people will say whatever you want in order to stop the pain and suffering and in the process reveal new "suspects" who they themselves will be subject to torture in order to get to the "truth."

Making the CIA report public is the right thing to do and will not make the world anymore dangerous for Americans. People who want to harm Americans after the report will be the same ones before the report was released.

People who want to stop the report by claiming it will further endanger Americans is just using that as an excuse to hide a very sad chapter in American history.

Just because our "enemies" torture does not justify us to use it.

We should take a higher ground.

We did not gas Nazi's after World War Two we took the main players to trial and exacted justice on them up to in including execution.

Let me say this I have no trouble going after people who are involved in terrorism and bringing them to justice up to including killing them on the battle field but torturing people in the name of freedom goes against everything this country stands for or at least what it should stand for.

The "Dick Cheney's" of the world, most of whom have never served in the armed forces have a simple minded and twisted view of the world and are filled with a deep rooted hatred that colors their view of the world.

9'11 was a tragedy that did not have to be used as an excuse to justify torture and reduce the right of privacy and due process but sadly that is its long lasting legacy.

We did not have to bankrupt the country financially or morally due to 9'11 but sadly we did.
