Like the BBC, you can actually listen to them on the news.

They don't sound like they are bursting with happiness that this exciting thing is happening and they will get ratings. Sorry, that's how US newscasters sound to me when something like this happens.

At our recent family reunion we were talking about US coverage of an aircraft in trouble. One of the brothers-in-law concluded that the moment it looks like there won't be a crash with blood and gore, the US media disappears.

They are clear the priority is the safe return of the hostages, no matter how long it takes.

And I notice they were praising the way the police were handling it. Couldn't help but compare. If that were happening anywhere in the US, the media and others would be on criticizing that for all they were worth based on anything they could glom onto.

I haven't heard anyone yet demanding to know why they haven't resolved this already. They are patient. The guy obviously is not a suicide attacker.

One of the hazards of not having cable anymore. I have to go looking for the news! That's why I rely so much on LBN at DU.
