Ex-CIA official: Lone wolf attacks coming to US within 'next year'

The United States should be prepared for a “lone wolf” terrorist attack within the next year, a former top Central Intelligence Agency official warned Monday.

“What concerns me the most is that we’re going to see this kind of terrorism around the world, and we are going to see it here ... we’re going to see this kind of attack here,” former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell said on “CBS This Morning.”

“We need to be prepared for that. It shouldn’t surprise people when this happens here sometime over the next year or so, guaranteed,” he added.

The former CIA official said that it is hard to prevent lone wolf attacks — where individuals carry out violence without the close direction of a terrorist group — but that intelligence officials could look for chatter about a coming event on social media.

Morrell appeared on "CBS This Morning," as a hostage situation unfolds in Sydney that many have speculated is a terrorist attack.

All of them are terrorism, in my opinion. Whenever someone shoots up a school or a workplace or any other sort of place, it's terrorism by definition. We just don't always know the reason for that terrorism.

We need to call things what they are, though.

believe them anymore?

The russians are coming, ISIS is coming, Al Quaeda is regrouping

it is existentially amazing that anyone believes a word they say.

Up until the day the USSR crumbled like a stale cookie they were insisting that the Evil Soviet Bear was priming for world conquest. Apparently they couldn't tell Gorbachev from Stalin even though the bald guy didn't have a moustache and the guy with the moustache wasn't bald and had been dead for nearly 40 years. I very much doubt that the CIA could find a grizzly bear in a phone booth.

- 32 Students dead in Va Tech shooting
- 21 5 and 6 year olds...that's right, I said 5 and 6 year olds slaughtered in their school
- 20+ people maimed and killed in a movie theatre in Colorado
- the DC Sniper
- Cliven Bundy
- 3 people gunned downed at a school in Portland, OR

and those are just a few that I could remember off the top of my head.

Fuck, your "lone wolf" shit is already here, and been here for decades!!

Of course, addressing that might cause us to have to examine our idiotic gun laws and the proliferation of easily obtainable firearms in this country...and we could never do that.

Much better to see the "boogey-man" as some dark-skinned foreigner, instead of who he really is...our fucking next door neighbors

Nope, can't do anything about the gun violence in America, but maybe we can torture a few more people who "look" Middle Eastern to make ourselves feel better...and safer.

Stop the fucking world....I want to get off!
