Story hereA Mississippi pastor, Ed James, made a unique statement against marriage equality by bringing a special guest to the Jackson courthouse. Uniquely ridiculous, that is.
From the article:
A Mississippi pastor brought a horse in a wedding dress to stand with him outside a federal courthouse on Friday in Jackson to protest a federal judges ruling, currently on hold, to overturn the socially conservative states ban on gay marriage.

(16,254 posts)I cannot believe how obsessed some ministers are with sex and politics. They must get their jollies out of fighting these battles.
I just hope the horse wasn't violated.

One imagines that none of them have ever bothered to obtain it.

(52,188 posts)once upon a time, "traditional marriage" didn't require consent, at least not from the woman.
so their confusion is understandable, if telling.

(3,937 posts)same sex marriage is not bad enough even for his bigoted congregation. It is as if to say -- 'you're okay with any two consenting humans getting married? okay what about a horse and a human?'

(65,616 posts)That horse. His horse. Ed went to Jared Barn. A horse is a horse, of course, unless that horse marries pastor Ed. You think pastor Ed will get Oats to play at his wedding - I hear Hall is in Australia getting married to a vibrating bed.
Ah I could go on forever, religious simpletons write their own comedy gold.
Interesting that Ed dressed the horse in a gown, I guess that he made just to prove a point? Here comes the bride...clip clop, clip clop...all dressed in white. What did pastor Ed say to his bride to be? "Why the long face?"

(38,187 posts)Do they just marry human women for tradition and appearance and do bestiality on nights and weekends or what?
I think I can safely answer for most gay people on this one. No, we wouldn't marry a horse, because we are gay, which means we like other humans, not animals. Duh...

(38,187 posts)It's like some kind of Freudian slip type thing with them trotting out animals when people talk about marriage equality. They are so damn dumb, they never to bother looking up what gay means and they think someone else might want a piece of their farm animal action. It's sick, twisted, and deranged, but that's how they seem to think. I think we might be onto something here. They just want to make sure us gays don't want to get between them and their farm animals. Don't worry, we won't. I can't believe we have to explicitly say we won't try to get between them and their farm animals.

(39,961 posts)So do more than a few DUers.
We aren't this stupid, nor are our neighbors in Alabama.
I hate the context living in this state seems to coat all of us that live here. There are as many LGBT people living here as there are in every other state. The fact that we sometimes fear for our lives of openly displaying it, but doing it anyway should tell you about our courage.
I'm a lesbian in a community that can at times be hostile to me. I still stand tall and brave.
What have *you* done in your community?
That's the fundamental question, here.
