Both are doing a wonderful job of speaking the truth and fighting for economic justice. I hope they'll continue doing that for a very long time. Since Senator Warren has said many times that she is not running for President, I will accept her decision. It's still unclear what Bernie Sanders will do with regard to the 2016 election. He may run. He may run as a Democrat. He may run as a third party candidate.
If Bernie Sanders runs as a Democrat, I will caucus for him here in Minnesota. If he appears on the primary ballot here as a Democrat, I'll vote for him then, too. If he runs as a third party candidate, I will not do either, however. I am a Democrat. I vote for Democrats.
Following the Democratic Convention in 2016, I hereby pledge to vote for the candidate for President selected by that convention, whoever that candidate is. I also pledge to do whatever I can to maximize turnout in my district and precinct for the full slate of Democratic candidates.
I am a Democrat. I believe that if we can gain majorities in both houses of Congress and elect a Democratic President, a broad range of good things will happen, including legislation that makes life better for working people in the United States. If we can do that, we'll move forward progressively. If we do not, we will not. If we elect a Democratic President but fail to have majorities in both houses of Congress, we will continue to get the lousy results we're getting now and that we'll get for the next two years.
For me, it's all about electing Democrats. That will be difficult enough. If we can do that, things will improve. If we can't, they won't. I think it is that simple. Others may disagree with that conclusion. It is my opinion, though.
Swing away! Swing for the upper deck!
