Nixon's Bay of Pigs Secrets...

http://www.thehistoryreader.com/contemporary-history/nixons-bay-pigs-secrets/

<snip>
When Nixon was vice president, he and then CIA agent Hunt were principal secret planners of the invasion of Cuba at the Bay of Pigs that failed so miserably when later ordered by President Kennedy. Nixon and Hunt were key leaders of an associated— and also ill- fated—plot to assassinate Castro. For that mission, potential assassins were recruited from Mob ranks, so that if any of their activities were disclosed, organized crime could be blamed.

Helms as then director of the CIA’s covert operations was a key participant in the Castro assassination plots. The plotters also enlisted the support of billionaire Howard Hughes. Like Nixon, Hughes despised the Kennedys and had strong links to both the CIA and the Mob. The mysterious and reclusive Hughes had made large, secret payoff s to Nixon and his brother Donald over most of Nixon’s political career.

Fronting for Hughes, Robert Maheu approached mobsters Johnny Roselli, Sam “Mooney” Giancana and Santos Trafficante. One report says fifteen professional killers ultimately made up the “ultra- black” Castro assassination team, consistent with a typical Mafia hit, as summarized by author David Scheim: “A mob murder is usually a methodical job, performed by a coordinated team of specialists. Up to 15 gunmen, drivers, spotters, and other backup personnel, plus several cars, are used on some jobs.”

Maheu, a former FBI agent employed by both the CIA and Hughes, had many links with Nixon. To mention just two: In 1956, Maheu ran a Howard Hughes–bankrolled spying operation to protect Nixon against Republican “Dump Nixon” forces trying to block Nixon’s renomination as Dwight Eisenhower’s vice president. Also while Nixon was veep, Maheu worked for Nixon on a “dirty tricks” operation against Greek oil tycoon Aristotle Onassis.

Nixon was at Dallas on Nov 22nd 1963. Amazing how all of Kennedy's enemies were there that day, but none of them admit to it. Doesn't matter which way JFK's brains splattered. Just having these creeps there was a sign. Even LBJ hated JFK. Again, amazing how this happened in LBJ's state. And LBJ had almost ALL secret service around his car while JFK had NONE. But it's crazy to think that there was a conspiracy for some. It's said every time Nixon referred to the Bay of Pigs, that he was talking about the assassination. LBJ was going to be impeached come Monday Nov 25th. All that changed on the 22nd. I hate LBJ. Always did.

While standing over a diorama of Dealey Plaza, a guy told me he knew who did it.
When I asked him who it was, he showed me on the diorama how LBJ jumped out of his car with a six shooter, ran across the plaza, shot JFK, and then ran back to his car.
According to this guy, he knew this as fact and could prove it, but since he did not know me, he did not know if I was a "spook" or not.
I see no reason not to believe him.
So there you have it.
LBJ shot JFK.

Back then, the CIA was still a secretive org. little known to the average voter
and the Mob's existence was only known via newspaper pics of dead bodies during their intercine wars.
Publicly, their existence was denied, altho reports were leaking out.

So all this behind the scenes stuff was pretty much a secret.
As for Nixon's involvement, I have no problem believing the story, he was good as using whoever he could for his own interests.

Watergate: The Hidden History, lays all of this out at great length with pages and pages of footnoted documents. A dry but interesting and very informative read.

It was all a game he enjoyed. Although very young, I was always very skeptical about how the Bay of Pigs turned out. I have never trusted the CIA's relationship with the Republican Party or vice-versa, even when a Democrat was in the White House.
