I once read that he was emotionally affected when he witnessed the accidental death of a friend on one of the Pacific Islands. Rod Serling also saw his share of fatalities during combat.

(205,161 posts)And he never asked me out, LOL, especially since I was a kid and he was with his wife, came to pick up their daughter from camp. It was a riding camp and Jodi Serling was seriously into horses...

(297,133 posts)he was but the Hostess wanted it.. they all got a good laugh.. and then after work I got a call from a friend who was having a drink with him somewhere.. asking if I wanted to come down and join them. So, it wasn't really a date thing. But, it was my brush with Twilight Zone History!

(205,161 posts)I knew who he was, especially since the owners of the camp made a big fuss when he and his wife came to pick up their daughter, was at the end of camp, the day of the camp horse show. I admit to having a slight resentment against Jodi, since she was in the same horse show class as I was and she won, and I suspected a set up...

(297,133 posts)Thanks for sharing your horse story with Rod Serling in it!
You want to win!

(205,161 posts)I've actually made a point of watching it not long ago.
Jodi Serling was older than I was, only came to camp for that one summer because they had a yearly riding trip to Ireland for the older girls and that's why she was there. I was in the top riding class and made the trip to Ireland, myself, later on, but I guess I regarded her as an interloper, LOL. One of my friends got to know her and I'm sure she was a very nice girl, seriously into horses, but I couldn't help but wonder if she really deserved to win that class or if it had something to do with her famous Dad being there...

(23,156 posts)and remember being totally blown away by it. I was in high school, and when school resumed after the winter break I was eager to discuss the movie with classmates. None of them had seen it.

(15,882 posts)Seems we replaced the fences in that show with other barriers to talking, because too many still think they can go on if they just ignore those left in the shadows.
That vision of Ted Cruz as the leader of the party of the future, however. Yechh. Enough to make someone eat fruitcake.
Have a peaceful holiday.
